To go your own way sometimes means to leave trusted paths, especially in times of changing and fluctuant conditions of agricultural markets.

To find and develop your own segments of rural services is not an easy thing to do. In fact, it requires fundamental preparation, time, entrepreneurial spirit and perseverance.

From gymnastics for babies across ropes courses to yoga – a former facility for steer fattening is turned into a gym and riding arena

The former facility for steer fattening in ownership of the Mersmann family has been changed into a gym and riding arena with a comprehensive range of physiotherapeutic and logopaedic offers. There is also a wide range of activities for horse riders focusing on therapeutic horse riding. However, visitors also benefit from special offers, such as practical health courses. The farm includes ropes courses, medical practices for physiotherapy and speech therapy, as well as animal therapy.

High quality eggs – poultry farm pledges to perform constant reviews and to use its own animal foodstuffs

The poultry farm Althues in Rosendahl, Coesfeld district (45,000 hens, mostly indoor and outdoor husbandry), regionally commercialises its own eggs and egg products. This strategy of commercialisation requires the Althues family to put particular attention to a fresh and high product quality. The management is convinced that constant reviews and the farm’s own animal foodstuffs are the key to corporate success. Customers will be persuaded by the high product quality, once they have visited the local farm shop and marvelled at the transparent noodle extruder machine that is officially certified according to EU regulations.

The whole is more than the sum of its parts – three families having a common vision

After successful transfer of the farm, the Bleker family made the farm in Raesfeld-Erle, Borken district, a popular destination for regional tourists and visitors from the neighbouring Ruhr area.

A farm café, shop and flower boutique generate income for three families. Constant reviews make sure that the offers, products and services meet the high quality standards.

If you know where to go, the world will be yours

When the Schulze Beikel family from the rural community of Borken-Marbeck decided to carry on with the traditional commercialisation of firewood sold on the forest farm (52 hectares of forest) that they had inherited from their parents, the first step to success had already been taken. While focusing on high service quality, they increasingly expanded their range of offers and customer base. Today, the family income is generated by selling firewood, hosting events and arranging the annual Christmas market on the farmyard.

Fantastic gardens become reality – garden lovers get their money’s worth

The enchanting perennial garden “Picker“ in the community of Borken-Weseke features a magic variety of plants across elaborately designed flowerbeds. It comprises a cottage and herbs garden, small ponds and water fountains, dry masonry walls and rock gardens, as well as fragrant roses and magnificent shrub beds surrounded by boxwood. The Picker family exposes more than 800 different kinds of shrubs in a small greenhouse, including several rarities. Garden lovers will be inspired by many wonderful ideas to be realized in their own garden at home.
