Katholisch-soziale Akademie Franz Hitze Haus

The catholic-social academy of the diocese Münster

Since 1952 the academy Franz Hitze Haus has organised events for political, social, theological, cultural and scientific education and meetings. The academy is an institution of the diocese Münster.

Franz Hitze (1851-1921) was the first lecturer for Christian social sciences of the University of Münster. He was a member of the national parliament and the Prussian house of representatives. In the Weimar National Assembly, he gave important impulses for the creation of a social welfare system.

In 1959 the building was inaugurated as an innovative institution for adult education. The building is clearly structured into living, work and leisure spaces. The conference building consists of 11 auditoriums for up to 300 people and houses a broadcast station. All rooms can be adapted to specific needs.

The restaurant includes two dining areas. Our chefs prefer to use regional and fresh products. We only serve sustainably produced meat. Visit our café lounge for a cup of espresso during breaks or a glass of wine in the evening. The establishments “Laube” for older guests and “Pütt” for younger people offer an inviting atmosphere for relaxing get-togethers.

The Franz Hitze Haus is located in the middle of Münster’s green lung – a central recreation area. Take a stroll around the lake Aasee during one of your breaks and admire the lush environment. Visit the nearby open air museum "Mühlenhof" or the zoological garden. The ancient urban district can be reached within a 30 minute walking distance. Bikes are the typical means of transportation in Münster and can be rented on demand. A bus to the central main street “Prinzipalmarkt” leaves every 20 minutes and only takes 7 minutes. The central train station can be reached in less than 15 minutes via two bus lines that leave from the station “Franz Hitze Haus“.
