DeSocial get-together in the “Speicherstadt“ district
Our social get-together will take place in the historical building “Speicher 10“, located in Münster’s northern district “Speicherstadt“. The “Speicherstadt“ is a complex having a surface of 11 hectares. It features tall buildings and parks built by the German military between 1936 and 1939. It was designed as a supply base for the troops that were stationed in Northern Germany. The centre included 7 ground storage facilities, as well as 2 further storehouses containing wheat resources. During World War II, the complex was left undestroyed and served as a British military base from 1945.
After withdrawal of the British troops in the mid 1990’s, the “Speicherstadt“ soon developed into a booming business spot. At this time, the entire complex, including its outbuildings, was declared a historical monument.
Nowadays, numerous agencies and companies of different sectors have settled here. 550 jobs have been created since completion of the remodelling and reconstruction works of all buildings. The building “Speicher 10“ was transformed into an event location. In former days, the bakers of the military troops had produced up to 30,000 breads per day. The phrase “hands-on history“ perfectly describes the current situation: large furnaces, that are still installed in the bakery, have been declared a historic monument and preserve the unique charm. This scenario is complemented by the huge windows on one side of the bakery. All these elements create the perfect atmosphere for our social get-together.
This get-together will take place on invitation of the Ministry for Agriculture and in presence of several political representatives of the city of Münster. Following a champagne reception there will be an evening dinner accompanied by piano music.
Chartered buses will guarantee a safe arrival and departure of all guests.
